Abdullah to attend World Humanitarian Summit in Turkey
The World Humanitarian Summit (WHS), which is scheduled to be held in Istanbulon May 26 and 27, will be an unprecedented event -- the first gathering of its size and scope on humanitarian action.
An n initiative of the United Nations secretary-general, the summit will bring the global community together to map out a new humanitarian approach that is more inclusive and representative of the needs and challenges of millions of people.
Javed Faisal, Abdullah’s deputy spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and more than 150 world leaders, including heads of state, would participate in the event.
The CEO would shine a light on the humanitarian assistance situation in Afghanistan and ways of making foreign aid delivery more effective, he said. Abdullah would also meet world leaders on issues of common interest.
