Judge gunned down by unidentified assailants in Kabul

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a retired judge in the eighth police district of Kabul on Friday morning, officials said.

Kabul police crime branch chief, Col. Faridoon Obaidi confirmed the shooting but gave no further details of the incident in the eastern part of the capital.

But Kabul provincial council member Waqifullah Raufi told Pajhwok Afghan News the retired judge, Abdul Qahar Haseeb, was gunned down in Kart-i-Naw area.

The murder took place at 4.30am when Haseeb, 67, was returning from a mosqueinfo-icon in Bombay Road neighbourhood, the public representative said.

Another source, meanwhile, claimed the victim was a serving judge who signed papers regarding the execution of convicted Talibaninfo-icon militants a few days ago.
