Clash over Ushr collection leaves 2 dead in Kunduz
KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Local officials on Wednesday said two people were killed and a third wounded during a clash between illegal armed groups over collecting Ushr in the Khanabad port of northern Kunduz province.
Lt. Gen. Sher Aziz Kamawal, commander of the 808th Spinzar Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place when the Taliban, who were collecting Ushr, faced opposition from two illegal armed groups.
The Taliban managed to flee the area but the two illegal armed groups engaged in a clash, he said. “Two people from Qudus Chapa and Hekmat groups were killed and another wounded during the ongoing clash,” Kamawal added.
Security personnel have reached the area to control the situation. The heavy clash is underway between the two commanders and heaps of wheat crops have been torches, according to the Pajhwok scribe at the scene.
Naqib, a resident of the area, said there were reports of Taliban collecting Ushr, but the militants fled after a brief clash.He said that huge heaps of wheat crops ready for harvest were burnt.
A rocket fired by the gunmen hit a house in the area, but there were no details of casualties, the resident added.
