Bulgaria to send scores of Afghan migrants back to Greece
KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 50 Afghan migrants detained in Bulgaria on Saturday will be sent back Greece, an official in Sofia said.
The 53 Afghans made their way to Bulgaria, which fears more refugees could enter its territory, aboard a freight train from Greece,
But Georgi Kostov, chief secretary of the interior ministry, another 34 illegal migrants had been arrested on Friday night.
The detainees’ return would send a messageto others who could try to use the same route to Western Europe, he was quoted as saying by Reuters.
"All of them (the Afghan migrants) are registered in Greece and they will be returned to Greece," said Kostov. “We want to send a strong message to all who have chosen this route.”
