6 insurgents, 2 policemen dead in Ghazni firefights
GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): At least six Taliban militants and two policemen have been killed during separate clashes in southern Ghazni province, officials said on Thursday.
Col. Lutfullah Kamral, the police chief for Gilan district, told Pajhwok Afghan News three insurgents were killed and five others wounded during a clash in Waro area of the district on Wednesday night.
A resident of Gilan district, Karimullah, confirmed the firefight between the Taliban and Afghan forces. However, he had no information about casualties.
Elsewhere in the province, the rebels launched attacks on security posts in the Laghabad area of Deh Yak district, leaving two policemen and three militants dead.
The district chief, Karimullah, confirmed the incident and said another three guerrillas were wounded in the incident.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesmanZabihullah Mujahidclaimed killing four Afghan Local Police (ALP) members in Deh Yak district.
A day earlier, a policeman and four civilians were killed in a Taliban attack on a courthouse in the provincial capital.
