Taliban behead killer, flog 3 on adultery charges in Zabul
QALAT (Pajhwok): The Taliban has executed one man and lashed two others in the restive southern province of Zabul, residents claimed on Friday.
Two residents of Shah Walikot districts told Pajhwok Afghan News Pir Mohammad was executed near the Shamozai village of Jaffar area today.
Samiullah, an inhabitant of the district, said the insurgents publicly flogged two of their associates and a woman on charges of having illicit relations.
About 2,000 people of the area watched as the men and woman were flogged, he said, adding Mohammad was beheaded for killing a shopkeeper named Bismillah a month ago.
Shah Joi district’s administrative head Mohammad Jawadi confirmed the incident to Pajhwok, saying the government could not enforce its writ in the area, located 35 kilometres off the district centre.
However, he added efforts were ongoing to detain the accused and bring them to justice.
