Former Jihadi commander gunned down in Nangarhar
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have shot dead former Jihadi commander and a tribal elder in the Ghani Khel district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
Attaullah Khogyani , the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place, in Klahi locality late on Saturday.
He said unknown assailants sprayed bullets at Sayed Abdul Wakel Pacha and managed to flee the scene while police have launched investigation.
According to Khogyani militants always tried to spread fear and intimidate people by killing ulemas, scholars and renowned personalities.
Mohammad Rasoul, a local resident, said Abdul Wakil Padsha, had political affiliation with Hizb –i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA), but recently served as local elder.
It is worth mentioning that Daesh militants had been involved in assassination of local elders ad influential personalities in Nangarhar.
