Logar: Taliban seize demining firm’s vehicles, drivers
PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Taliban insurgents seized several cars and two drivers of the Sterling Demining Company in the capital of central Logar province, an official said on Tuesday.
The governor’s spokesman, Salim Saleh, told Pajhwok Afghan News the rebels took some deminers and two drivers of the company hostage in Al-Timor locality on the outskirts of Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, on Monday night.
The insurgents also took away some of the company’s vehicles and also set alight some cars and other equipment, he said.
He said security forces had launched efforts to rescue the captives and recover the vehicles.
A deminer with the Sterling Company, whishing anonymity, told Pajhwok that the rebels took away nine vehicles and two drivers of the company during an attack on Monday night.
He confirmed the insurgents set ablaze seven vehicles and took two others with them.
There has been no word from the insurgents regarding the incident that comes two months after the militants seized 11 vehicles and drivers of the same company.
Later, the drivers and the vehicles were recovered by security forces during an operation.
