3 sisters beaten, gunned down in Logar’s Kharwar district
PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen on Saturday killed three sisters in the Kharwar district of central Logar province, the district administrative chief said.
Samar Gul Rashid told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Panch Pai area shortly after 12pm. The three sisters were returning to the village from a mountain to bring home lime stone when they were intercepted and taken away by unknown gunmen.
The sisters were beaten before being shot dead, the official said, adding the incident occurred in an insecure area and the government could not access the area. However, Rashid said they were still trying to investigate the incident and arrest the culprits.
Kharwar local council deputy head Ahmad Nasir Ahmadzai said the slain girls were 20, 18 and eight years old. They were daughters of Omara Khan, a local resident, who had no enmity with anyone, he said.
Ahmadzai said local residents had spotted the killers who wore dark blue dresses, urging the government to investigate the incident and arrest the killers.
There was no word of responsibility.
