2 rebel bomb experts fall prey to own explosives
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two rebel bomb-making experts were killed on Sunday when the bomb they were placing in a vehicle went off accidently in eastern Nangahar province, an official said.
The governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place at around 11:00am in Gargatai area of Kot district.
He said the insurgents were preparing a vehicle for a car bombing when the bomb exploded. Civilians suffered no casualties in the incident.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
Elsewhere in the province, a tribal elder, Malak Awal Khan, was shot dead by insurgents in Surkhrud district.
The elder was on his way to Surkhrud from Khogyani district when came under attack in Saqawa area of Surkhrud, Khogyani said, blaming the Taliban for the assassination.
Malak Awal Khan was a resident of Patiwat locality of Surkhrud district. There has been no word from the Taliban regarding Khan’s murder.
