10 Taliban killed, 4 injured in Helmand operation: police
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Ten Taliban militants were killed and four others wounded during an overnight operation by security forces in Khanshin district of southern Helmand province, police said on Wednesday.
Helmand police chief Brig. Gen. Aqa Noor Kentoz told reporters in Lashkargah, the provincial capital, that a number of areas in the district had been captured by security forces during the operation conducted last night.
He said security forces also detected and defused 10 landmines during the operation, during which security forces and civilians escaped unharmed.
The Taliban on their website claimed inflicting casualties on security forces in various parts of Helmand, but they said nothing about the operation in Khanshin district.
