4 officials bailed out in Masnour ID documents case
KABUL (Pajhwok): A court in Pakistan’s Balochistan province has granted bail to four of the seven officials who had been arrested over issuing identify documents to slain Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour under the alias Wali Mohammad.
The US and Afghan authorities had said a vehicle carrying Mansour was targeted by a US drone in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on May 21.
After his death, media reports said Mansour possessed Pakistani identity card and passport in the fake name of Wali Mohammad and had visited other countries many times to using them.
The Pakistan Ministry of Interior had ordered an investigation into how the Taliban leader obtained the ID documents.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Islamabad had nabbed seven government officials, including retired ones, accused of issuing fake documents to Mansour.
Pakistani media outlets on Saturday reported that a court in Balochistan had released four of the seven officials on bail.
