Taliban’s shadow governor for Ghazni killed in airstrike
GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Saturday said Taliban’s shadow governor for southern Ghazni province was killed by Afghan forces along with three accomplices -- a claim rejected by the militants.
A statement from ministry said the Taliban-designated governor, Mullah Qasim, was killed in an airstrike in AabBand district. Two other insurgents were injured in the incident.
Police chief, Brig. Gen .AminullahAmarkhel, confirmed the airstrike in Paindakhel area of the district on Friday night.Qasim, a Taliban leader, was killed in the raid.
Jan Mohammad, a resident of Paindakhel area, said they heard heavy blasts in the village last night.He added two civilians were injured in the explosion.
However, Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid said two militants were killed in the attack in AabBand district.
He added seven Afghan security personnel were killed in an attack on their posts in the district last night.However, security officials did not comment on the incident.
