Unknown gunmen loot foreign NGO office in Logar
PUL-ALAM (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen looted a foreign organisation called PMU in central Logar province, an official said on Saturday.
Provincial head of the organization, Zafar Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News unknown gunmen broke into their organisation’s office last night and whisked away the office equipment.
According to him, the thieves stole one land-cruiser vehicle, 14 computer sets, 550,000 afghanis cash and some other goods.
He said the incident took place at Iftari time and he had informed security officials who came and arrested their office gate’s guards.
Zafar Khan was concerned about the looted computers having important documents of the organisation.
A member of the provincial council, Abdul Wali Wakil, confirmed the incident and said it was shameful that robbers looted an office in the heart of the provincial capital, Pul-i-Alam,
The public representative said security departments should find the thieves and bring them to justice.
Deputy police chief Lt. Col. Nisar Ahmad Abdul Rahimzai confirmed the incident and they had shared the issue with the governor.
However, Salim Saleh, the governor’s spokesman, said security organs were responsible to provide information to the media on their own.
PMU is a foreign organisation that has been providing technical and other assistance to the National Solidarity Programme in Logar province.
