Border gate being erected inside Pakistani territory: Aziz
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Hours ahead of talks on the thorny issue, Pakistan on Sunday reiterated its resolve to construct a gate on the Torkham border within its territory.
Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, in an interview, said Pakistan was constructing the gate in its own territory and did not need seeking permission from anyone.
He said the ongoing construction of the Torkham gate could not be stopped, because it was not a breach of any bilateral agreement with the neighbouring country.
Also on Sunday, an Afghan delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Karzai, is due to arrive in Islamabad for talks on border management at the invitation of Aziz.
Aziz insisted the Afghan authorities had been informed that from June 1 no one would be allowed to cross the border without documents.
