UNHCR renews pledge to support Afghan refugees worldwide

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on Monday declared its support for Afghan refugees all over the worldinfo-icon and assured President Ghani the agency’s timely assistance delivery to refugees.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said President Ashraf Ghani met with UNHCR Commissioner-General Fillipo Grandi at the palace and thanked him for visiting Afghanistaninfo-icon on the occasion of International Refugee Day.

Grandi stressed solution to problems being faced by Afghan migrants and said Afghan refugees’ rights should be supported worldwide and especially in Pakistaninfo-icon and Iran.

He said migrationinfo-icon was an international problem and all countries should jointly work to address the problem. He said UNHCR could find suitable ways for resolving the migration issue.

President Ghani expressed his gratitude to Grandi and his team for their efforts to help refugees worldwide and especially supporting Afghan refugees in critical conditions.

The statement said Fillipo Grandi once again announced UNHCR support to Afghan refugees worldwide and assured President Ghani of  timely providing the refugees with their assistance.

Grandi thanked Ghani for paying attention to Afghan refugees’ issues and said UNHCR would continue its assistance to Afghanistan and would support refugees’ rights.
