Gen. Dostum brands Pakistan as hub of terrorism

Gen. Dostum brands Pakistan as hub of terrorism

Jun 23, 2016 - 14:22

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): First Vice-President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum on Thursday slammed Pakistaninfo-icon as a happy breeding ground for terrorist and extremist groups that were active in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

The neighbour was trying to achieve its strategic goals in Afghanistan through terrorism, remarked Gen. Dostum in northern Jawzjan province, where he is leading an operation against the Talibaninfo-icon.

Dostum claimed at least 17 insurgents, including dreaded commander Mullahinfo-icon Jundullah, had been killed during the operation in the past two days. The Afghan Air Force (AAF) conducted 10 airstrikes in Dawlatabad and Garziwan districts of Faryab and destroyed Taliban hideouts there.

He alleged Pakistan was a factory of terrorism, producing the Taliban and Haqqanis, who were killing of the innocent people of Afghanistan. The former warlord said he would go after the Taliban wherever they were and use his combat experience to eliminate the rebels.

He said thousands of Taliban had changed their perception about Pakistan and they were no more supporting the neighbouring country. On Wednesday at least 115 Taliban joined the reconciliation process in Faryab province.
