139 Daesh fighters killed in 3 days of clashes in Kot: Governor
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A dozen security officials and 139 Islamic State (IS) fighters have been killed in three days of clashes and airstrikes in the Kot district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said.
Addressing a news conference here late on Saturday, Governor Salim Khan Kunduzi said some women had also been displaced due to fighting in the district. However, they have now returned home.
At least 18 civilians and security personnel were wounded in the fighting, said the governor, flanked by senior officials. He denied the militants had kidnapped women in Kot.
“Undoubtedly, Daesh supporters have respect for nothing. They don’t spare children and women. The militants don’t balk at torching mosques and schools,” the governor remarked.
