Peshgam, new TV channel, goes on air
KABUL (Pajhwok): A new private television channel, named Peshgam, went on the air on Tuesday. The channel will focus on scientific and educational subjects.
Former presidentHamid Karzai, inaugurating the channel in Kabul, hailed it as a welcome move.“We are proud of opening a new page in promoting education in the country.”
The channel’s motto is ‘University in Every Home’.The project would help promote education among youth and people,” the former president hoped, pledging cooperation with Peshgam.
Javed Sangdil, founder of the channel, said they had tasked scientists from 100 countries with teaching Afghans bachelor and master courses.
He called Peshgam TV a new innovation in Afghanistan’s media history, explaining politics, economy, administration and management were the focus of the channel.
Literacy programmes and scientific documentaries would also be aired by the TV channel, which is currently on the air in Kabul and some other provinces of the country.
