17-km road gravelled in Dara-i-Sauf district
AIBAK (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) has gravelled a 17-kilometre road in the Dara-i-Sauf Payeen district of northern Samangan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Eng. Rafi Refah, the MRRD director, told Pajhwok Afghan News the road connected Damki village with the district centre. With 5.5 metrees width and 33 culverts, the road cost 24.5 million afghanis and took 10 months to complete.
Eng. Mohammad Qurban, executive manager of the district, said around 10,000 families in 28 villages would benefit from the project.The road was completely destroyed as result of floods in recent years, he added.
Residents of local villages were happy with the road’s reconstruction.Mohammad Ismail, a resident of Bayan village, said they were faced with many problems before road was rebuilt.
But now they can easily transfer their agriculture products and shift patients to the centre of the district, according to the inhabitant.
