Laal-u-Anar Foundation wins Facebook Global Digital Challenge
WASHINGTON (Pajhwok): Laal-u-Anar Foundation which seeks to unite all Afghans around has won the prestigious Facebook Global Digital Challenge for Spring 2016.
The award was presented to the foundation after the team won a tough global competition in Washington this week.
“Afghan youth, especially students, are making a difference every day in their chosen fields of study. We should take it upon ourselves to identify, share, and amplify these positive stories,” said Abduljalil Ghafoory, executive director of the Laaluanar Foundation.
This year the foundation has initiated and accomplished many goals this year and expanded its scope beyond building networks of Afghan intellectuals, community leaders and civil society members to fulfilling the broader purpose of cultivating Afghanistan’s young minds and leading the nation’s social transition.
“Our exciting new initiatives include partnerships with local Afghan universities which have enabled us to take part in Peer to Peer program,”
Ghafoory said though the Afghan team faced trouble obtaining the visa to Morocco to present their campaign personally but still they managed to share the Afghan perspective on extremism via videoconferencing from US Embassy and be awarded the third place of success.
The foundation, currently is focused on underserved areas in the southern province of Kandahar and the northern province of Badakhshan.
