Abdullah promises thorough probe into deadly attack
KABUL (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdullah on Friday said the twin suicide bomb attack on police cadets in Kabul was being investigated seriously.
Thursday’s first attack in Paghman district targeted new police cadets and the second was aimed at the people who rushed to help the victims.
At least 30 people, mostly police personnel, were killed and 58 others wounded in the terror assault, claimed by the Taliban movement.
The CEO denounced the attack as the handiwork of Afghanistan’s enemies and foreign agents -- euphemisms government officials often use for the Taliban.
“Our armed forces are guardians of our sovereignty, territorial integrity, honour and dignity. Only coward foreign agents and terrorists would attack the security forces,” he said in a statement.
Abdullah accused the foreign-aided terrorists of continuing their contemptible activities even in the holy month of Ramadan in disregard of all Quranic teachings.
The unity government would thoroughly probe the attack, bring the perpetrators to justice and bring to account the security personnel who showed negligence.
“We are fighting against an enemy who has no respect for human dignity, international law or Afghan values. Their only aim is to harm their own country and people to please outsiders,” he remarked.
