NSC issues special directives for Eid security
KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Security Council on Monday directed the defence and security organs to take necessary measures for security across the country during Eid holidays.
Presided over by President Ashraf Ghani, the NSC meeting took place at the Presidential Palace on the eve of Eidul Fitr that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The meeting participants prayed for the departed souls of martyred security personnel and expressed their grief over the double suicide attack on buses carrying police cadets in Paghman district of Kabul.
The meeting also expressed concern over negligence in preventing the Paghman carnage by the officials concerned, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
The NSC meeting directed the authorities concerned to take legal action against those had committed negligence in preventing the Paghman attack.
It also issued directives to the authorities to prevent such tragedies in future, reach out to the bereaved families and make arrangements for treatment of the wounded cadets inside Afghanistan and abroad.
The security and defence officials presented their reports about security situation in Helmand, Uruzgan, Kunduz, Faryab, Nangarhar, Kunar, Badakhshan, Baghlan, Badghis and Maidan Wardak provinces.
In their reports, the officials praised the bravery and efforts of Afghan security forces who they said inflicted heavy casualties on the enemies during the past 72 hours.
The National Security Council offered special thanks to the security forces and issued necessary directives to the defence and security officials for further improvement in security and prevention of possible security incidents.
National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar presented his report about the delivery of first batch of military aid from China to Afghanistan.
The meeting also assessed problems being faced families who had been displaced by ruthless attacks of the enemy in Nangarhar’s Kot and Hesrak districts and Badakhshan’s Raghistan district.
The meeting assessed all aspects of the Afghan Local Police reform plan and praised progress in this regard and directed the Ministry of Interior to complete the reform plan in line with the earlier approved strategy.
