Security tightened nationwide for Eid holidays
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Monday said special security measures had been put in place to prevent any possible untoward incident during Eidul Fitr holidays and to enable people to celebrate the religious festival with zeal.
MoI spokesman Sediq Sediqi told reporters here that the MoI, the Ministry of Defence and the National Directorate of Security (NDS) had chalked out joint security plans for the festival.
He said all security organs had been directed to be fully prepared and alert and provincial and district police chiefs and other officials had been asked to take elaborate security measures during Eid days.
Sediqi urged people to cooperate with security forces in maintaining security in their respective areas.
He said children should not be bought toy guns which he claimed were being imported to the country to develop hostile habits in children, calling for preparation of policies in this regard.
He said police were trying to prevent selling and buying of toy guns in light of people’s complaints.
He said police alone could not prevent the culture of toy guns and they needed people’s cooperation in this regard.
He said action against toy guns sellers needed legislation in order to legalize police action. He said the imports of such items to Afghanistan should be banned.
