Pakistani conducted attack on US consulate: Saudi ministry
KABUL (Pajhwok): Monday’s bombing near the US consulate in Jeddah was conducted by a Pakistani citizen, the Saudi interior ministry said on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old bomber, who lived in the kingdom for the past 12 years with his family, was identified as Abdullah Qalzar Khan.
Interior ministry spokesperson Mansour al Turki was quoted as saying by the state-run Al-Ekhbaria news channel the explosion took place closer to a mosque than the consulate.
Separately, four security officials were killed in a suicide bombing near Masjid Nabavi in Madina on Monday. The assailant apparently targeted Shia worshippers and a security headquarters at a mosque in Madina.
Dozens of people have been killed in suicide attacks in Turkey, Iraq and Bangladesh over the past few days.All the assaults were claimed by the Islamic State (IS).
