Religious scholar killed in Nangarhar magnetic bomb blast
KABUL (Pajhwok): A religious scholar was killed in a blast caused by a sticky magnetic bomb attached to his vehicle in the Momand Dara district of eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday, an official said.
The scholar and prayer leader, Mualvi Mohammad Shafique, who was killed in the blast had no connection with the government, the Nangarhar governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Governor Salim Khan Kundiz has condemned the killing of Mualvi Shafique and condoled with the bereaved family.
Recently, religious scholars and prayer leaders are increasingly targeted in Nangarhar, where Taliban and Daesh militants --- both bitter enemies --- operate.
