13 Taliban, Daesh rebels killed in Nangarhar offensives

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least nine Talibaninfo-icon and four Daesh militants have been killed during Afghan and foreign forces’ airstrikes in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Tuesday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that nine militants including some Pakistanis were killed and five others injured during airstrike by Afghan forces in Khogyani district.

Lt. Col. Sherin Aqa Faqiri, spokesman for the 201st Selab Military Corps, said that the militants planned to storm security posts in the area before they came under attack. Civilians suffered no casualties in the airstrikes.

Abdullah Barakzai, a resident of Khogyani district, told Pajhwok the Taliban stormed police posts in Pirakhel and Morgi areas late on Monday.However, he was unaware of casualties.

Elsewhere in the province, four Daesh fighters were killed in a NATOinfo-icon airstrike in Kargani area of Achin district on Monday night. The governor’s spokesman said the vehicle carrying the militants was struck by a drone.

Meanwhile, local officials said intelligence agents arrested three Daesh and as many Taliban fighters during an operation in the province. The governor’s house said the detainees were residents of Hisarak and Rodat districts.
