205 unregistered bikes, vehicles impounded in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The special police unit has impounded 205 unregistered motorcycles and cars during an operation in Jalalabad, the capitalof eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News that the ongoing campaign against undocumented vehicles was yielding satisfactory results.

“Over 200 motorcycles and vehicles without documents have been seized and tinted glasses removed from many others,” the official said.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, said no vehicle without documents would be allowed to ply city roads and their owners would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

He claimed the operations had good result because the governor and provincial council removed black glasses from their vehicles and it was a good initiative.

A resident of the city, Burhanullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the campaign shout be a permanent feature to prevent unwanted incidents.

On the other hand, officials said police had arrested more than 26 suspects on kidnapping charges and 39 alleged robbers in Jalalabad.

Brig. Gen. Qudratullah Azizi, the crime branch chief, said the detainees had been referred to judicial organs and further investigations were underway.
