3 doctors with Afghan Red Crescent Society kidnapped in Sar-i-Pul
The doctors had gone to Aho village of the district to provide treatment to local residents, the provincial government spokesman, Zabihullah Amani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the Taliban abducted the three doctors from the village to Laghman area on the outskirts of Sar-i-Pul city, the provincial capital.
He said the Laghman area was under Taliban control. The kidnappers also took away with them a vehicle belonging to the doctors.
Amani said efforts in cooperation with local elders had been launched to secure the release of the doctors.
The Taliban have said nothing so far about the incident. But a man, who introduced himself as a local Taliban commander, told Pajwhok Afghan News over the telephone that they had captured the three doctors.
