86 Afghan families return home from Peshawar after Eid
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Following the Eidul Fitr festival, 86 Afghan families in Pakistan’s northwestern city of Peshawar have left for their homeland, an official was quoted as saying on Thursday.
Shabir, an official of the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA), told the newspaper up to 600 Afghan citizens visited repatriation centres daily after last month’s border clashes in Torkham.
Unregistered Afghans in Peshawar and surrounding areas, who lack resources, have been streaming to the repatriation centres to go back to their country.
“How is it possible for me to go back as I cannot afford transportation charges and have no source of livelihood in Afghanistan?” asked Gulab Said, one of the undocumented Afghans.
