62 insurgents, 7 ANA troops killed in past 24 hours: MoD
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Friday said 62 militants and seven security personnel have been killed in various provinces during the past 24 hours during operations.
A statement from the ministry said the Afghan defence and security forces conducted offensive operations in Nangarhar, Paktika, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Kandahar, Farah, Badakhshan, Takhar and Helmand provinces during the past 24 hours.
The operations resulted in the killing of 62 insurgents and injuring of another 27. Two insurgents were captive alive, the statement said.
Five commanders were killed along with 15 associates in the Greshk district of southern Helmand province and another nine were wounded, it said, adding 23 Taliban fighters were killed in Kandahar’s Maiwand district.
Nine militants were killed and seven others were wounded in Raghistan district of northeastern Badakhshan province, the MoD statement said.
Ten militants were killed and a dozen more wounded during operations in Nangarhar’s Kot district, Paktika’s Barmal and Orgun districts and Maidan Wardak province’s Chak and Ghazni’s Maqur districts.
During the operations, seven Afghan National Army troops lost their lives, the statement said.
The insurgents have said nothing in this regard.
