Nearly dozen Daesh rebels perished in Nangarhar airstrikes, operation
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 23 Daesh rebels have been killed during a clearing operation codename Shaheen 18 and airstrikes in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Sunday.
Lt. Col. Sherin Agha Faqeri, spokesman for 201st Silab Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News the operation was conducted in Kot Laghjo locality where eight Daesh rebels were eliminated and the terrorists were purged of several other areas.
Faqeri said security forces recovered weapons and explosives during the search which were used against security forces by the rebels.
Lal Mohammad, the local uprising group leader, said the offensive was underway successfully and security forces established check-post in most cleared areas.
Separately, 15 Daesh rebels have been killed in foreign forces airstrikes in the Spin Zaea locality of Nazyano district, Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman said.
He said the airstrikes were conducted late on Saturday. Daesh militants have not yet commented about the incident.
