2 dead in Logar bombing; attacker shot dead in Kandahar
PUL-I-ALAM/KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): Two civilians have been killed in a roadside bombing in central Logar province and an unidentified gunman shot dead by intelligence agents in southern Kandahar, officials said on Monday.
Salim Saleh, the Logar governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News two civilians were killed on Sunday eveningwhen a roadside bomb went off in the Kharot area Charkh district.
“The two men on a motorcycle were on their way to the district bazaar when blown up by the bomb,” he said, accusing the Taliban of planting bombs on roads.
Ajmal, a resident of Dasht village, said: “Thevictims were a man and his son, heading to the bazaar for shopping. The roadside bombingblew them to bits.”
Education department spokesmanMohammad Shahpoor Arabtold Pajhwok one of the dead was a student of Dasht High School in Charkh district.
Elsewhere, an unidentified armed man was shot dead in a retaliatory attack by National Directorate of Security (NDS) agents in the ninth police district of Kandahar City.
Samim Khpalwak, the governor’s spokesman, said one pf the gunmen opened fire on NDS personnel while the other managed to escape. Two pistols were also seized from the slain man.
However, an official who wished not to be named, said an NDS officer was injured in the incident.
