4 employees of a private telecom company abducted in Jawzjan

SHABARGHAN (Pajhwok): Four workers of MTN private telecommunication company were kidnapped by Talibaninfo-icon militants in Qush Tapa district of northwest of Jawzjan province Monday, an official said.

Governor’s spokesman, Mohammad Reza Ghafori, told Pajhwok Afghan News the  four individuals were on their way from Cheqma Choqor village  to Jarqaduq village of  Qush Tapa district when militants stopped their car and took them hostage to an unknown location this morning.

He said it is unclear so far which group of the militants were behind the incident but local elders were contacted local Taliban militants to free the abductees.

Eng. Mohammad Nasim, provincial communication and technology director, expressed concern about the incident and said kidnapping of a telecom company workers can leave negative impact on telecom sector in the province.

He said Taliban force telecom companies to turn off their services during the night. However, he said the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology was ready to compensate any damage caused by any militant group to private companies.

The militants have not yet commented about the incident.
