Afghan migrant attacking train in Germany shot dead
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok). An axe-wielding teenage Afghan migrant wounded four passengers on a train in southern Germanybefore he was shot dead by police, international media reported on Tuesday.
Three of the passengers were seriouslywounded in the attack, which left 14 people in a state of shock, Wuerzburg police said on their Facebook page. Four members of a family from Hong Kong were wounded.
A German TV channel quoted Bavaria's state interior minister Joachim Herrmann as saying the attacker had been identified as a 17-year-old Afghan migrant. Germany registered more than 150,000 Afghan migrants last year.
The assailant found his way to Germany as a minor and had lived in Wuerzburg at a refugee camp in the town of Ochsenfurt. Recently he started living with a foster family, according to the website EuroNews.
Police chased the youth and killed him when he fled the train at an emergency stop. The overnight attack happened on a train that runs between Treuchlingen and Wurzburg.
