9km road benefiting 2,000 families constructed in Shigal
ASADABAD (Pajhwok): A nine-kilometre road has been constructed under the National Solidarity Programme (NSP) in the Shigal district of eastern Kunar province, an official said on Thursday.
The road had been built in La-Hussain, a mountainous area of Shigal where there was no an asphalted route previously, NSP head for Kunar Wahidullah Zahidtold Pajhwok Afghan News.
He recalled the road had been constructed seven years ago but with a limited width and length. Now its length has been extended to nine kilometers and width to four metres to facilitatevehicular traffic.
Costing5 million afghanis, the road between Moni and Talon areas of the districtwas implemented with the support of local councils, he said. The project will benefit more than 2,000 families.
Gul Alam, a resident of La-Hussain, said the road caused residents problems before it was rebuilt. People can now easily transport their patients and produce to the district bazaar, according to him.
