Qala-i-Zal district of Kunduz retaken from Taliban, police claim
KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The Qala-i-Zal district of northern Kunduz province has been recaptured from Taliban, as heavy clashes continue in Aqtapa area, local security officials said on Thursday.
Police chief, Brig. Gen. Qasim Jangalbagh, told Pajhwok Afghan News district centre and the Aqtapa bazaar, whichfell to the militants on Wednesday night, were retaken by Afghan forces Thursday morning.
He said 20 militants were killed and 28 others wounded during the battle for the control of the areas. Heavy clashes are still underway close to the Aqtapa bazaar.
Jangalbagh said four Afghan security personnel were also injured and a military tank that encountered technical problems was torched by militants, who also launched attacks on Dasht-i-Archi district.
