15 detained after clash at funeral ceremony for Taliban leader

CHARIKARinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Local officials on Saturday said 15 suspects had been arrested after a clash during the funeral ceremony for Talibaninfo-icon’s deputy governor in central Parwan province.

The Taliban leader, Maulviinfo-icon Abdul Shakoor, was killed along with three associated by thebomb they were planting under a bridge in the Ancho area of Syedkhel district on Thursday.

Several people suffered casualties during a clash at the funeral ceremony after some people spoke against the government.

Police chief, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zaman Mamozai, told Pajhwok Afghan News five other Taliban militants, who were injured in the blast, had been arrested by security forces.

Mamozai added some speakers at the funeral ceremony delivered inflammatory speech against the government, drawing an angry reaction from other participants.

In the ensuing clash, two of Shakoor’s supporters were killed and two others injured.He said security forces had arrested 15 people in connection with the incident.

However, residentAbdul Basir saidsix pro-government men were also killed in the incident. The Taliban have not yet commented on the clash.
