16 injured in rickshaw bomb blast in Baghlan
PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): At least 16 civilians were injured on Thursday evening when a bomb rigged to a rickshaw exploded in Baghlan-i-Markazi district of northern Baghlan province, an official said.
Gawhar Khan Baburi, the district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the improvised explosive device had been planted on a rickshaw that exploded at around 6:00pm in the vicinity of the district’s main mosque.
The blast left 16 civilians injured, including six children and two members of an uprising group (anti-Taliban militia).
The injured have been evacuated to hospital. The town’s chief accused the Taliban of carrying out the explosion.
He said the insurgents wanted to kill Taroor Gul Mohammad Tarakhel, a public uprising commander, but the commander escaped unhurt in the blast.
There has been no word from Taliban about the incident.
