57 militants including IS dead in security forces offensive: MoD
KABUL (Pajhwok): Fifty-Seven militants, including 36 Daesh or Islamic State (IS) rebels, have been killed and scores others were wounded and arrested in fresh offensive in the 13 provinces of the country, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Friday.
The security forces conducted fresh offensive in Nangarhar, Laghman, Parwan, Paktia Paktika, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar, Farah, Jawzjan, Kunduz, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces, the MoD statement said.
Security forces targeted militants’ hideouts in Achin, Kot district and used artillery against the outlawed group. A huge amount of weapons were also captured in the offensive.
Two security forces were also killed during the offensive. Militants have not yet spoken about the clashes.
