2 children, policeman killed in Kandahar & Kunar
KANDAHAR CITY/ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Two children were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IEC) blast in eastern Kunar province while a policeman lost his life in a clash in southern Kanadahar province, officials said on Saturday.
Kunar police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Syedkhel, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the IED exploded in the Sikandar area of Sarkano district late on Friday.
Two children were killed and three others including a girl injured in the incident. The victims were aged between five and 10 years, he said, adding the condition of the injured was stable.
Separately, a policeman was killed and six others were wounded in a clash with insurgents in Kandahar. The governor’s spokesmansaid the clash took place when militants stormed Afghan Local Police (ALP) posts.
However, Samim Khpalwakwas unaware of militants’ casualties in clashes in the Mirkhel area of Maroof district on Friday night. The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
