Contracts for projects worth 89m afs signed in Kabul

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Contracts for establishing 49 raisin and 13 fruit and vegetable processing facilities, 13 greenhouses and grapes orchards on 213 acres of land in Kabul, Parwan and Kapisa provinces were signed in the central capital on Sunday.

The contracts were signed between representatives of local councils of the three provinces and Agricultureinfo-icon, Irrigation and Livestock Minister Asadullah Zamir.

The projects would be executed at a total cost of 89 million afghanis, with his ministry and the French development agency contributing 60 percent of the expenses and farmers 40 percent, Zamir said.

Nearly 3300 people, including 600 womeninfo-icon, would directly and thousands more indirectly benefit from the schemes, he said.

He said the projects were being implemented in Paghman, Deh Sabz and Mir Bachakot districts of Kabul and Bagram, Jablus Siraj and Syedkhel districts of Parwan and in Mahmud Raqi and Charikarinfo-icon, the provincial capitals of Kapisa and Parwan provinces, he said.

Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon member from Kabul Irfanullah Irfan asked the officials concerned to closely monitor the projects during their implementation. The lawmaker some projects in the central province remained incomplete.
