More than 300 Afghan citizens rounded up in Peshawar
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): As part of an ongoing crackdown, more than 300 Afghan citizens have been rounded up for illegally staying in the northwestern city of Peshawar, police say.
A Capital City Police Office (CCPO) source confided to Pajhwok Afghan News on Sunday the arrests were made during raids in different areas over the past five days.
The official said: “More than 300 Afghans, who neither had proof of registration cards, nor any travel documents, have been detained in the provincial capital in the last five days.”
Requesting not to be named, the official said the Afghans had been charged under the Foreigners’ Act in 18 search operations involving police, army and other law-enforcement agencies’ personnel.
