Uruzgan women to have recreational park
TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Construction work on a recreational park for women was launched in the central province of Uruzgan on Sunday.
Governor Mohammad Nazir Kharotai, who inaugurated the construction work, said the recreational park would be constructed in three months at a cost of 10 million afghanis near the Tirinkot airport.
He said the park was being constructed with financial support from SHAHAR organization and the municipality would bear 25 percent of the cost.
The governor said the land for the park had been donated by a former provincial police chief Gen. Matiullah Khan’s family.
Uruzgan women’s affairs director Rana Sami Wafa said the park would facilitate females to pass their time on weekends.
Currently there is no recreational place in Tirinkot, and women have to stay at homes, a woman, Shafiqa, said, while happy over the park’s construction.
They have donated more than 25 acres of land to the municipality for the women park, Rahimullah Khan, brother of the former police chief, said.
