Afghan nationals living in Kurram given a week to leave
The political authorities had also launched a survey in villages close to the border to collect information about the Afghans living there illegally.
A Parachinar –based official said a campaign for the expulsion of illegal Afghans had been initiated in compliance with orders from the federal government.
The local administration would launch crackdown on the illegal Afghans and deport them once the week-long deadline ran out. The areas where Afghans are residing had been identified.
Amid mass arrests of the Afghans in other parts of the country, several families have already started relocating to their homeland.
The Afghans have been directed to wind up their commercial activities and leave Parachinar within a week. Refugee camps across tribal areas were closed in 2003.
But Afghan nationals have been living in different areas of Kurram and other tribal agencies despite the closure of refugee camps. They are running shops in the region.
