7 rebels killed as IS recruitment centre hit in Nangarhar
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Many areas in the Haska Mena district of eastern Nangarhar province have been cleared of Daesh militants during an operation codenamed ‘Qahar Selab’, local officials said on Wednesday.
The Nangarhar governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News the clearing operation had led to purging Shabai, Tangi and Gorgorai of the Islamic State (IS) presence.
He said during the Qahar Selab offensive, a Daesh recruitment centre was also destroyed. Seven militants were killed and another nine injured during the offensive, the gubernatorial spokesman added.
Three motorcycles belonging to the fighters were also destroyed during the ground operations. One Kalashnikov was recovered and four anti-vehicle landmines were seized and defused.
Also known as Daesh, the group is yet to comment on the operation and its casualties.Afghan security forces, supported by US troops, launched the major operation against the terror group in Kot district nearly 10 days ago.
