Laghman PC head hurt, bodyguard killed in blast
MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): The provincial council head for southern Laghman province along with eight others were wounded and one of his bodyguards killed in a bomb blast on the outskirts of Mehtarlam, the provincial capital Thursday morning, an official said.
Governor’s spokesman, Sarhadi Zwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place near Sarajuddin Garden around 8:00am.
He said explosive-rigged motorcycle went off when the provincial council head, Mohammad Tawoos Adil was passing through area.
Adil and eight other people, including four of his bodyguards and as many civilians, were wounded and one of his bodyguards killed in the incident, he added.
Laghman public health director, Dr. Attaullah Niazai, confirmed receiving one body and nine injured people.
An eyewitness, Wahidullah, said the explosives- rigged motorcycle was parked beside the road near Sarajuddin Garden.
He said the bomb was blown up through a remote control when the provincial council head was on his way to office.
