Taliban-fired mortar injures 13 civilians in Kunar
ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Thirteen civilians were wounded when a mortar shell fired by Taliban militants hit a residence in Manogi district of eastern Kunar province on Sunday afternoon, an official said.
Deputy provincial police chief Col. Syed Maqsud Pacha told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban mounted attacks on security check-posts in Kand-i-Kapar locality.
He said one of the mortar shells fired by Taliban hit a civilian home in a nearby area, resulting in casualties.
Dr. Farooq Sahak, the civil hospital director, confirmed receiving nine wounded persons, including women and children. He said the injured were in stable condition.
The Taliban have not yet commented about the incident.
