Afghan refugee children not entitled to Pakistani citizenship

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Children of Afghan refugees living in Pakistaninfo-icon are not entitled to have Pakistani citizenship documents, the interior minister says.

The refugeechildren could not enjoy the privilege, even if they had mothers of Pakistani origin, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told the National Assembly.

He said the people born in regions that are currently part of Pakistan or those whose parents or grandparents were born here before enforcement of the 1951 Citizenship Act are considered Pakistanis.
