Helmand police chief survives roadside bombing
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The police chief for southern Helmand province on Sunday survived a bomb attack that injured two policemen on the Helmand-Kandahar highway.
Helmand police chief Brig. Gen. Aqa Noor Kentoz told Pajhwok Afghan News the roadside bomb hit their convoy in Sarkar area at about 5:30pm. He said the blast occurred after the police had defused a number landmines and were about to conclude the mission.
He said two policemen were wounded in the blast. “Flying glasses also hit me in the face and hands, but I am fine,” said the police chief. A tank belonging to the Afghan army was damaged in the blast.
But a police source said one policemen was killed and four others, including Kentoz, were wounded in the explosion. He said the police chief was slightly wounded.
